Raw Steel:
I received lot of emails asking me how I did my Performa bike raw finish. That is pretty simple but I have to warn you that is not a insdustrial ISO procedure, but is most likely driven by an aesthetic reason.
The way I did is to wire-brush it with a power drill (to be faster and consistent) and then pass a steel wool extra fine and then I use some generic Johnson Wax or similar, and during the year if i found any rusty spot I go again for some steel wool.
I don want use clear coat because if you don’t have access to professional spray tools the result is gonna be crappy. So go for the raw metal and take care you bike and don’t leave it outdoor overnight or during a rainy day. My bike is still nice like the first day after two years…just take care of it.
